Running Injuries
Running is a fantastic way to stay fit, but it also puts repetitive stress on the body.
Repetitive movement during running can often lead to a range of common injuries. At our clinic, we regularly treat both novice and competitive runners, helping them recover from and prevent these issues. Below are some of the most frequent running-related injuries we see daily.
Stop struggling and let’s get your injury better managed, allowing you to continue with your running commitments.

Common Injuries
Associated With Running
Lower Back Pain
Fairly common in runners — usually comes down to biomechanics, weakness, or training load rather than a serious spinal problem.
Glute Weakness / Bursitis
The gluteal muscles are key for hip stability and lower-limb alignment. Inflammation of the bursa over the greater trochanter causes outer hip pain.

Hamstring Strain
A tear in one or more of the hamstring muscles (biceps femoris, semimembranosus, semitendinosus) at the back of the thigh.
Quadricep Strain
Partial or complete tearing of one or more quad muscles — most commonly the rectus femoris — at the front of the thigh.
Runner's Knee (PFPS)
Patellofemoral pain syndrome — irritation around or behind the kneecap where it meets the thigh bone (femur).
ITB Syndrome
Inflammation of the iliotibial band where it repeatedly rubs over the outside of the knee (lateral femoral condyle).
Shin Splints
Medial tibial stress syndrome — pain along the front or inner edge of the shinbone, often linked to overtraining or hard surfaces.
Calf Strain
A tear in one of the calf muscles. Very common in runners and sports involving sudden acceleration or jumping.
Achilles Tendinopathy
A common overuse injury of the Achilles tendon — especially seen when training load increases suddenly.
Plantar Fasciitis
The most common cause of heel pain in runners — inflammation of the plantar fascia along the base of the foot.
Morton's Neuroma
A common cause of forefoot pain in runners — thickening of tissue around the nerve between the toes, causing sharp or burning pain.

Posted on Henson 1984Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Iv had 2 sessions with javid up to now recommended by a friend, iv had back problems with twisting and bending and NHS wasnt much help as they only seem to be interested in dealing with the pain rather than the root cause, I came to javid for an extended physio session , after that session he relieved the tension in my my back with massage, put me through some mobility stretches and also gave me the diagnosis I needed to move forward which was posture related, I honestly didnt expect much from my first session but with the stretches he's chose for me and including the tension release from the massage i honestly have been pain free i still have more work to do and I'm confident iv found the right person to fix me which i thought this is something im going to have to live with, which is not the case, so thank you Javid.Posted on Radoslav ShtarkovTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I'd like to take a moment to express my gratitude to Javid. He took me into a last minute check, I was in a quite bad physical state with my back and he went through extensive ways to discover the issue and help recover. Thank you for the support!Posted on CyprisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Am happy with the treatment, very high quality. Would definitely recommend this physio. I have been to Javid on a number of occasions and have always provided good care both in sessions and for assigning plans for recovery.Posted on Yasir AliTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I came to Javed after being recommended him before visiting MCR physio I had awful experiences with previous physios, who couldn’t recognise what was causing the sharp pain down my neck and shoulders , which caused weakness and limited movement in my shoulder. From the very first session, Javed showed an impressive understanding off the human body and quickly noticed that it was my axillary nerve causing the pain. He displayed vast knowledge of nerve rehabilitation and a genuine commitment to helping me recover. Each appointment was tailored to my progress — the exercises were carefully explained, and Javed always made sure I understood why we were doing each one. The combination of manual therapy, targeted strengthening, and constant encouragement made a huge difference in my recovery. What really stood out was the patience and positivity throughout the process as I can’t keep out the gym. Nerve injuries take time to heal, but Javed kept me motivated and focused on long-term improvement. Thanks to his expertise, my shoulder mobility and strength have improved far more than I expected. I’m incredibly grateful for the care and professionalism I received and would highly recommend Javed to anyone dealing with nerve-related or shoulder injuries.Posted on Charlotte HarriesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I went to Javid for a dry needling session and had a great experience. He was really thorough with his assessment and clearly knows his stuff. I felt well looked after, and he gave me great advice for my rehab while continuing to train. Would definitely recommend!
